Today’s Feast Day: St Frances Xavier Cabrini

Today is the feast of St Frances Xavier Cabrini.  She was the first US citizen to be canonised and she is the patron saint of immigrants.  In these days of political upheaval across the world and mass immigration, why not say a prayer to St Frances Xavier Cabrini for all immigrants that live in our parish?

Today’s Feast Day: Dedication of the Lateran Basilica

Today we celebrate the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica in Rome on 9th November 324 AD by Pope St. Sylvester.  Every bishop has a cathedral, and the Pope’s cathedral is the Basilica of St. Johns Lateran, not the Basilica of St. Peter. Our own church, St Cadoc’s, is the place where we come together as a community to love and praise God.  It is the holy place where we gather strength to support one another in the task of living the Gospel.  It is the place where we come privately to enter into intimate conversation with God.  In our church, many prodigal sons and daughters have met the merciful Lord in the Sacrament of Reconciliation and have been welcomed back to our community.  In our church, tears have been shed by those in pain and grief as well as by those in joy.  Why not pay a small visit to St Cadoc’s Church today and say a small prayer?  (adapted from a Radio Vaticana homily)
