Monthly Rotas for August and September

The new monthly rotas are available up to 24th September.

We’re always looking for new volunteers for all of the parish ministries, so please talk to Monsignor Monaghan after mass if you would like to get more involved in the parish community.

Today’s Feast day: St Ignatius of Loyola

Today is the Feast Day of St Ignatius of Loyola.  Here is his prayer:

Lord, teach me to be generous;
Teach me to serve you as you deserve;
To give and not to count the cost;
To fight and not to heed the wounds;
To toil, and not to seek for rest;
To labour, and not to ask for reward –
except to know that I am doing your will.

Prayers of Intercession: 14th Sunday of Ordinary Time

Prayers of Intercession

By God’s grace, through baptism and confirmation, we possess the Spirit of Christ, and in that Spirit we pray to the heavenly Father.

  1. May the Catholic Church in Scotland keep Jesus Christ at the centre of all things, so that faith is firm, hope is serene, and charity is generous. Let us pray to the Lord. Grant this, Almighty God.
  2. May Bishop Keenan continue to be guided by the Holy Spirit in all that he does, and be consoled by that same Holy Spirit. Let us pray to the Lord. Grant this, Almighty God.
  3. May those who are over-burdened by war and living in refugee camps, be of deep concern to us as we stand before God in prayer. Let us pray to the Lord. Grant this, Almighty God.
  4. May the escalating tensions arising from North Korea’s missile testing, not be increased by aggression in word or action, but rather through patient and wise dialogue. Let us pray to the Lord. Grant this, Almighty God.
  5. May those who have died find rest in the Heart of Jesus. We remember today Annalena McAfee, Ian Saunders, Daniel McNulty, Peter Schaeffer and Mr Docherty. Let us pray to the Lord. Grant this, Almighty God.
  6. Let us pray to our Lady of Paisley for Bishop Keenan:  Hail Mary….

Eternal God, our eyes are fixed on you that we may experience your mercy now and always. We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Video: Stations of the Cross

The Stations of the Cross can be done at any time of the year and is a great devotion to carry out.  This video is about 30 minutes and covers all of the Stations of the Cross with meditation.

Prayers of Intercessions: Thirteenth Sunday of the Year

Prayers of Intercession

Called to carry the cross with Jesus, we are to be compassionate to others, sharing with them simple acts of kindness and care.

  1. We pray for Pope Francis, that his example of compassion for the poor and vulnerable of our world will inspire in us actions of kindness and thoughtfulness. Let us pray to the Lord. Grant this, Almighty God.
  2. We pray for Christians burdened with the denial of religious freedom in China and Vietnam, remembering especially bishops, priests and lay faithful imprisoned for their faith in Jesus. Let us pray to the Lord. Grant this, Almighty God.
  3. We pray for those suffering famine in East Africa, and those who live within the war in Syria, and all desperate in refugee camps. Let us pray to the Lord. Grant this, Almighty God.
  4. We pray for those who have died through violence, by accidents or suicide, that Jesus Christ, who conquered death, will take them to himself and comfort their families. Let us pray to the Lord. Grant this, Almighty God.
  5. We pray for those who in the last week have gone to their rewards, especially, Fr. Charles Kane, Fr. Martin Xavier, Paul Will, Jean Will, Maureen Valbonesi, Marion Pagani, Janice McIvor, Pat Curran, Joseph Kearney, Mary Reilly, Rena Traynor and Douglas Mennie. Let us pray to the Lord. Grant this, Almighty God.
  6. Let us pray to our Lady of Paisley for Bishop Keenan:  Hail Mary….

God our Father, you have made us in your image and empowered us through the Holy Spirit to live with Christ’s compassion. Bless and unite us. We ask this through Christ our Lord.      Amen.
